2023 Fire Department of the Year Award Winner - The Albion Fire/Rural Fire Department

East Peoria, IL – The Albion Fire/Rural Fire Department was honored as the Fire Department of the Year at the 142nd Convention of the Illinois Association of Mutual Insurance Companies in August.

Nominated by United Insurance Company, Manager, Shane Pritchett wrote, “We feel that the Albion Fire/Albion Rural Fire Department is an asset to the community during both times of need and times of fun and learning.”

Over the past several years, the department has worked vigorously to make improvements through training opportunities and by implementing trainings requirements. Their hard work has taken them from a basic fire department to one that now offers first responder medical assistance and hazardous services along side fire response. The department also loves to give back to the community through fun learning opportunities; from Breakfast with Santa where kids can explore the fire equipment and meet firefighters, to a Farm Bureau Day where local fourth graders can gain fire safely knowledge.

The dedication and determination this department has diligently shown toward the betterment and safety of their community earns them badges of honor with every service call, IAMIC is honored to present them this award.
